Star Citizen Ship Development Pipeline
An unofficial Star Citizen ship roadmap. It tracks which Star Citizen ships are in development at CIG and how far each has moved through the art gates since Oct 2022, read from the monthly reports and quoted on this page. The official roadmap gives dates that move; this ship development pipeline gives what was reported.
Every bar is a production gate: Pre-production, Whitebox, Greybox, LOD0/Final, Gold Standard, then Flight Prep. Flight-ready status comes from the LIVE 4.10.191 game files instead of the gate history, so a ship can sit mid-pipeline here and still be flyable today.
New to Star Citizen? The Star Citizen Beginner Guide covers starter packages and getting off the ground. To fit out or plan a route in a ship that is already flying, use the Ship Loadout Builder and the Fuel and Jump Range Tracker.
Showing all 142 ships.

Unnamed vehicle 7 1 report quote
- Aug 2026 · Pre-production
Finally for the UK team, an all-new ship entered pre-production, with the devs breaking down the brief and concept to begin building out the geometry.
What each development gate means
- Pre-production
- CIG’s design stage. The brief and the rough layout are being settled before any geometry is built.
- Whitebox
- Blocked-out geometry. Scale, layout and internal volumes are being decided; nothing here is final.
- Greybox
- Untextured but functional. Rooms, doors and component placement are in, and the ship can be walked through.
- LOD0/Final
- Final art. Materials, damage states and levels of detail are being built to shipping quality.
- Gold Standard
- Audio, lighting and the interaction pass that make the ship feel finished.
- Flight Prep
- The last stage before release: damage states, levels of detail, QA and the hand-off to the teams that close a ship out.
What each status means
Status comes from CIG’s own Ship Matrix, which settles whether a ship flies. It carries only two states, so the monthly reports do the rest of the work: a ship the Matrix does not list as flight ready is In Development if the reports show it moving through gates, and In Concept if they have never mentioned it at all. That distinction is the point of this page, and neither source makes it alone.
- Flight Ready
- CIG’s own Ship Matrix lists it as flight ready. That includes hulls not sold for aUEC and NPC-crewed capitals.
- In Development
- Not in 4.10.191, but the monthly reports show it moving through gates. Work is happening.
- In Concept
- Sold as a concept and never once shown moving through a gate in four years of monthly reports. The Endeavor was sold in 2015 and appears in none of them.
The vehicles CIG will not name
A large part of the pipeline is vehicles the reports discuss without naming, and leaving them out understates what CIG is building. 8 of them are on the chart, marked unnamed.
That is a floor, not a count of how many unnamed ships exist. The reports carry 90 mentions of vehicles CIG did not name. A mention only becomes a track when it can be tied to a second sighting in another month, or when the report states outright that a new ship has just begun, so 30 sightings are quoted on this page without a bar of their own. Some of those are the same hulls already charted; others are ships nothing here can distinguish. The chart shows what can be followed, not everything that was seen.
Their identity is inferred, and that part is guesswork. CIG never says which unnamed vehicle a sentence is about, so mentions are followed across months by what the reports say about them. Treat an unnamed track as a best guess at one vehicle rather than a fact. A track that stops being mentioned is dropped: these vehicles go quiet because they get announced, so an unnamed hull that reached final art last year is most likely already on this page under its real name. Every sighting keeps the sentence it came from, quoted above, so the evidence stays separable from the guess.
How reliable is this
Every gate bar on this chart is read from a CIG monthly report, one observation per sentence, and every one is quoted with the month it came from. Ships still in development are quoted above, the ones already flying further down. Nothing on the chart is reconstructed or estimated: if no report placed a ship at a gate, no bar is drawn for it. Bars stop at Sep 2026, the last month a report has been published for, rather than running to today.
Status comes from CIG’s own Ship Matrix, not from the gate history. A ship that is already flying shows one band with its release date and the Alpha patch it shipped in, and no gate timeline, because a ship anyone can go and board does not need one. A release date is the day its patch went LIVE, not the day it reached the test servers and not the day it was first shown.
Nothing here is a release date forecast. CIG publishes no dated commitment attached to any of these gates, and a ship can sit in one for years.
How released ships got there, in CIG’s words
Ships that are already flying show one band above rather than a timeline, because a reconstructed gate history is the least reliable thing this page could publish. What CIG actually wrote about them while they were being built is a different matter, and it is quoted here in full: the gates they passed, the month each was reported, and the gold-standard reworks that came after release.

Ship development pipeline FAQ
What new ships are coming to Star Citizen?
14 ships are actively moving through CIG’s production gates and are not yet in the game: Aegis Javelin, Anvil Legionnaire, Anvil Liberator, CNOU Pioneer, Drake Kraken, RSI Galaxy, Unnamed fighter, Unnamed vehicle, Unnamed vehicle 2, Unnamed vehicle 3, Unnamed vehicle 4, Unnamed vehicle 5, Unnamed vehicle 6, Unnamed vehicle 7. Another 22 have been sold as concepts with no reported work at all. Nothing here carries a release date, because CIG does not attach one to these gates.
Is there a Star Citizen ship roadmap?
CIG publishes a Progress Tracker and monthly reports, but neither presents ship art progress as a timeline. This page is an unofficial ship roadmap built from those monthly reports: every gate here is quoted from the report that stated it, with the month attached.
Which Star Citizen ships are still in development?
14 ships are not in the live build but appear in CIG’s monthly reports moving through production gates: Aegis Javelin, Anvil Legionnaire, Anvil Liberator, CNOU Pioneer, Drake Kraken, RSI Galaxy, Unnamed fighter, Unnamed vehicle, Unnamed vehicle 2, Unnamed vehicle 3, Unnamed vehicle 4, Unnamed vehicle 5, Unnamed vehicle 6, Unnamed vehicle 7. A further 22 have been sold as concepts without a single reported gate: Aegis Nautilus, Aegis Vulcan, Anvil Auxilia, Anvil Crucible, Anvil Odin, Argo CSV-FM, Banu Merchantman, CNOU Forge, Crusader Genesis Starliner, Drake Kraken Privateer, Greycat MFC, MISC Endeavor, MISC Expanse, MISC Hull D, MISC Hull E, MISC Odyssey, MISC Starlancer BLD, RSI Arrastra, RSI Orion, Tumbril Ranger CV, Tumbril Ranger RC, Tumbril Ranger TR.
What is gold standard in Star Citizen?
Gold standard is the art gate a ship passes once it is considered finished. It covers audio, lighting and the interaction pass, after the art itself is already complete. One stage follows it, flight prep, where damage states and levels of detail are built and the ship is handed to the teams that close it out. Reaching gold standard does not mean a release date has been set; it means the ship is done to shipping quality.
What is LOD0 in Star Citizen?
LOD0 is the highest-detail version of a ship’s geometry, the one you see up close, and CIG uses the term for the gate where final art is built. A ship at LOD0 has finished greybox and is receiving materials, damage states and its levels of detail.
What do whitebox, greybox and LOD0 mean in Star Citizen?
They are the art gates a ship passes through at CIG. Whitebox is blocked-out geometry that fixes scale and layout. Greybox is an untextured but walkable ship with doors and components placed. LOD0/Final is the finished art pass. Gold standard covers audio, lighting and interaction polish, and flight prep is the last stage before release. Pre-production comes before all of them. A ship normally moves through them in that order, though it can sit in one for years.
How long does a Star Citizen ship take to build?
There is no fixed answer, and this chart is the argument for why. Some hulls clear every gate inside a year; others hold at whitebox across the entire period shown. Read the bar, not an average.
Does reaching gold standard mean a ship is about to release?
No. The gates describe art readiness, not a release date. A ship can clear its final art gate and still wait on gameplay systems, and CIG publishes no dated commitment tied to any of these gates.
Where does this data come from?
Gate history comes from CIG’s monthly reports, one observation per sentence, all quoted on this page. Status comes from CIG’s Ship Matrix. Release dates come from the patch each ship shipped in, dated to that patch’s public LIVE release. Where a date was supplied directly rather than derived, the row says so.
Where do the release dates come from?
Each ship is dated by the LIVE release of the patch it shipped in. That distinguishes the three dates that circulate for a patch: an internal target, a PTU launch for backers, and the public LIVE release. Only the last is used here.
